Offer Exercise and physical suggestions to make pregnancy and childbirth more comfortable
Sometimes a trial 'run-through' of different scenarios that might occur --
It is important to be comfortable and familiar with the positions, breathing styles, massages, and visualizations that might be offered during labor
Labor & Delivery
I will attend your labor and delivery from the time you request my presence, and I will remain with you postpartum, as long as needed. I recommend my clients have me join them when labor has started, but it is not required. It is a personal choice and depends on your preference. (Remember to always give your doula a courtesy call to let her know your labor has started, even if you don't require her to come right away. This will provide her valuable lead time to prepare and get her affairs in order so she can be ready for when you do need her to arrive.)
Postpartum Service (first 1-3 hours)
Postpartum services include:
Information gathering
Assistance with breastfeeding
Photography (per your requests)
Notifying awaiting family and friends either via phone or email so you and your partner can bond with the baby
I also offer a written record of the birth (birth story) delivered at our first postpartum home visit
and all clients receive 20 personalized birth announcements
Postpartum Services (first 1-2 weeks)
2 home visits approx. 4 hours each
1st postpartum visit should be your first or second day home
This give me a chance to observe you feed baby twice, and address any breastfeeding issues you may have
Allows you a chance to grab a shower or nap while I am there
During this time I can assist you with any errands or chores that need to be done
2nd postpartum visit can occur any time first two weeks
I also like to come by between 6-8 weeks postpartum to see how life has settled in,
and get a photo of parents and baby for my personal album. :-)
I check in with my clients for the first year on a regular basis to see how things are going,
when you hire me, I am your doula for life.
I am always available to my clients for questions via phone and email at no charge.
